Becoming a HUD-Approved Housing Counseling Agency

There are many things to take into consideration when aiming to become a HUD-Approved Housing Counseling agency. Organizations may apply as a Local Housing Counseling Agency, Intermediary, Multi-state organization, or as a state housing finance agency. But how does an agency determine which entity best describes them? What services should a housing counseling agency offer? Are there any services a housing counseling agency should not offer? What should be included in the Work Plan? These questions and more will be addressed throughout the training. Participants will leave with a thorough understanding of the criteria and recognize the requirements agencies must meet to receive HUD approval.
